A H S FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
The AHS (advanced heating system ) should only be fitted to the sides or back of your vivarium or breeding enclosure. The AHS is easy to install. The diagram below shows an ideal installation. Four small pilot holes are required to be drilled to take the AHS fixing screws. A larger hole is required to allow the mains cable out of the vivarium. The sensor should be placed approximately as shown in the diagram. Some experimenting with moving the position of the sensor will allow the AHS to suit your exact heating requirements.
Due to the vast array of animals from exotic reptiles to kittens and puppies which may benefit from the heat provided by the AHS, and to the many varied shapes and sizes of vivariums together with the surrounding environments in which they are kept, it is impossible to give an exact AHS wattage of heater for individual requirements.
However as a general rule of thumb the guide below provides an idea of heater wattage to size of vivarium.
Please remember it is always better to buy a larger heater than required as it will cost no more to run due to the thermostatic control.
Power of heater Enclosure size
100 watt up to 24’’ long * 24’’ wide * 24’’ high
150 watt up to 36" long * 24’’ wide * 24’’ high
250 watt up to 48" long * 24’’ wide * 24’’ high
350 watt up to 60’’ long * 24’’ wide * 24’’ high
500 watt up to 72’’ long * 24’’ wide * 24’’ high
The unique design of the AHS which includes a mechanical over temperature thermal cut out together with the electronic pulse proportional thermostat gives complete security and peace of mind regarding safety even when installing high wattage heaters in small vivariums. Although this AHS was originally designed for the more exotic creatures the lower temperature setting of approx. 19° c is about average room temperature and will prove ideal for breeding of the less exotic animals.
A SMALL LIST OF COMMON SENSE PRECAUTIONS:-
Although the AHS will not be affected by the humidity levels required for most exotic animals, as with all electrical items care should be taken not to spill water on to the heater.
Ensure the sensor of the AHS does not come into contact with the outside wall of the vivarium as this will result in incorrect temperature readings.
always set up the vivarium making sure that the temperature required is reached and has had time to settle before introducing any animals.
As with any heater be careful not to place anything in front of the grill as this will cause a safety hazard and will hamper the performance of the AHS.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION
When first switching on the heater you may get an initial smell from the paint work, don't worry the paint is non toxic and will soon disappear. Also a clicking noise may be heard this is the thermal cut out limiting the case temperature of the AHS.
THE AHS IS GUARANTEED FOR 12 MONTHS
The AHS has no user serviceable parts and in the unlikely event of a failure should be sent back to Microclimate for repair at the address below. Any attempted repairs under taken by a third party will invalidate the guarantee.
