HEAT MAT INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING HEAT MAT
This heat mat can be used in many different ways to provide warmth in vivariums for snakes, lizards, amphibians, turtles, inverts, etc. In fact anywhere gentle heat is required.
As with all heat sources some form of temperature control will be required to regulate the temperature of the vivarium to suit the animal being kept.
This heat mat is compatible with all major brands of vivarium thermostats and all types i.e. on/off, dimmers, and pulse proportional. It is strongly recommended that a thermostat is used in conjunction with a heat mat. In an average room temperatures may vary considerably throughout the year and this can have a disastrous effect on uncontrolled heaters in confined spaces irrespective of manufacturer.
DO NOT CUT, BEND, OR PIERCE THIS HEAT MAT
SMALL VIVARIUM SET-UP

MEDIUM
TO LARGE VIVARIUM SET-UP
Note An air gap of at least
5mm should be left between the heat mat and the bottom of the vivarium.
This can be achieved by raising the vivarium on strips of wood ( lath, beading
etc.)
This applies to all types of vivarium i.e. wood, plastic, glass etc.
Heating in a vivarium is normally arranged to give the animal a warm area and a cooler area. We recommend that the heat mat should be no larger than half the floor area of the vivarium.
Warmth
from the heater will penetrate materials such as melamine, glass,
Wood,
etc. Materials such as polystyrene, cork and metalised surfaces are insulators
and do not conduct heat well.
When using cork or polystyrene for insulation, for extra safety use fire resistant grades.
The
heat mat is designed to be splash proof only. Do not immerse in water.
If the heat mat is placed beneath the substrate check for heat build up in the lower layers and adjust accordingly.
Do not bury in sand
The heat mat is designed to run continuously and if care is taken when installing will last for many years.
If the vivarium is to be placed on the floor (i.e. carpet) a suitable plinth (wood) at least 12mm thick must be placed between the polystyrene and the floor.
Due to the many and diverse applications for this product no liability for the loss or damage to livestock or equipment can be accepted.
This does not affect your statutory rights.
